Black, white and a touch of (neon)pink...a beautiful combination. Love the handmade tags of Aimee Jiline.

TRUST - GOING - PASSION - be inspired and have a merry xmas

Images by Aimee Jiline

The inspiration for these wooden candlebottles comes from the use of leftover bottles after a party as a candleholder. These Candlebothes by Daniel Franzén are made out of Swedish pine. A beautiful way of transforming a well know habit into a great design.

You can get the candlebottles here...A great way of decorating your table when giving a dinner for family and friends.

old becomes new

Love it when designs are inspired by old products like this lantern light. The light is made out of white porcelain with an orange wire attached to it. You can easily put in your home or hang it on the metal triangle shaped hook that is included.

A great way of giving the old-fashioned lantern a new look.

The light is available here at the shop of

Vertigo Bird

Lovely lights from Vertigo Bird, I think they are playful and a great design. I can imagine those clouds for a boys room ....

Christmas decoration

Totally in love with these Christmas decorations. A modern jewel of ceramic for the upcoming Christmas days and even after the holidays they will look great in your home. Hanging on the wall or somewhere else... A 100% handmade product by OnsHus in white glazed and mat ceramic.

By using a wire you can create your own shape.

A product that really makes us smile and we are happy to be selling these pieces in our shop byAprilandMay. You can choose between a set of 5, a set of 3 or a set of 2.

Take a look here and we hope to bring some Christmas in your home...

The Blog Works 2012

Last weekend we went to Antwerp to stay for one night in the amazing Hotel Julien (later more about it) because I was invited to speak at the bloggers event The Blog Works in Belgium. This was the second edition of The Blog Works.

The Blog Works centralizes the ongoing discussions about lifestyle and blogging, and offers a platform for debate. A seminar/workshop providing food for thought, and at the same time will fuel your imagination. The Blog works is a concept by Marie Lemaitre and Stephanie Duval.

Next to me there were some really great speakers like Amber Venz from Rewardstyle, Susie Bubble from Style Bubble, Bart Lapers and Arieta Mujay. And in the afternoon some great photography workshops with the great Paulina Arcklin giving the interior photography workshop.

It was a great experience, meeting new people and getting the chance to talk about my work as a stylist, April and May, my blog and shop byAprilandMay.

Take a look at The Blog Works and maybe you will join next year too...

Bunad blankets by Andreas Engesvik

Need some color at home ? Take a look at these blankets by Andreas Engesvik

“The bunad is one of the most visible and known traditions in Norwegian cultural heritage; the garment is a significant cultural carrier and is central to the passing on of Norwegian handicraft traditions,” he added.

I love the graphic pattern and they look so soft !

and the winner is...

We had so many great comments on our Christmas candleholder give-away. Really nice to read how everybody is celebrating Christmas at home.

Thank you Sandra for this beautiful give-away.

Hello winter

It's official winter and the first snow has landed in Holland. I wish you a white and cosy weekend.Psstt.. do you see those beautiful christmas hangers? You can buy them online in our webshop

The Dutch Sinterklaas is over and we had a great evening yesterday. One of the presents our boy got was this cool Cubebot.

Robot toys are usually made of plastic and require batteries - but not this one! Inspired by Japanes puzzles, the Cubebot is a non-traditional take on the toy robot. The powerful hardwood frame can hold many poses and his elastic-band muscles and durable wood limbs make him impervious to breakage.

This cool robot is available at Orphan Socks...and ofcourse also a nice Christmas present :)

lovely restaurant

Look at this interior.. it's Höst, an inspiring place and restaurant located in Copenhagen. It is designed by Norm Architects and they used industrial pendant lights, woolen blankets and reclaimed wood to create rustic Scandinavian dining rooms. Hmm.. maybe for my next visit..Pictures by Emma and Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen
